The Tree Follow Up
by Laura Jane Hudson
An ireport image from Lacey May
I thought that this would give some more people a little perspective on the size of these trees. When one of the workers who cut the tree down was standing beside the newly cut log he was barely as tall as the log lying on the ground in this image.
They claimed that it was for safety concerns and the general health of the trees. Supposedly they will plant new ones. I am ok with thinning some of the old, sick trees, but the giants in front of the Chapel looked healthy to me and will be missed.
I do not think they should have cut down any of the trees in front of Wiley. They looked completely healthy! I could understand that they wanted to trim them down a bit, but completely knock them down was unnecessary! It is sad that the K Phi's and the Sigma Nu's can't greet their pledges around these historic trees anymore! The administration should already know that these trees have had meaning for all greeks since the organizations were founded!

do we know why they did this yet?
